Thinking About Getting A Beardie?

I love my beardie. It sounds cliché, but it is true. Beardies are awesome! And I wholeheartedly recommend getting one. But, are you ready? Here is a checklist of supplies you need before getting your companion

  • A Tank. If you are getting a baby, I recommend a 20+ gallon tank. If you are getting an adult, I recommend a 40-45+ gallon tank. However, if it is a large beardie (20"+), I would recommend at least a 50 gallon.
  • No. 2: You need a basking light*: At least a 50 watt (20-40 gal.), 75 watt(40ish gal), or 100 watt+(45+ gal) bulb and a lamp fixture.
  • A thermometer to measure tank temperatures
  • A hygrometer to measure humidity
  • Food (veggies, worms, crickets, fruits, pre-made pellets)
  • A log or rock for basking.
**Basking light, not UV light. You can wait a little while to get a UV light. But, take your lizard out in the sun everyday for about 20 minutes.

Thank you! Hope this was helpful
